Volunteering

Many skills are necessary to keep our railway running smoothly.
Perhaps you’d like to learn new skills – we can help?
If you would like to volunteer with us here are some possibilities:


Operations:
Locomotive driver, guard, shunter, crossing keeper.

Maintenance and restoration of exhibits:
Servicing, oiling, cleaning, painting, electrics, woodwork, metalwork.

Site maintenance and repair:
Maintain trackside hedges and fences, gardening, building repair.

Permanent Way maintenance:
Replacing old sleepers, track maintenance.

Catering:
Help run our small cafe on open days.

Meet, greet and inform:
Welcome visitors, help with information, issue tickets, publicity.

Exhibits and archives:
Cataloguing, recording, researching, preparing displays.

Fundraising:
Raising money for projects such as the track fund.

Model Railways:
Operating and maintaining our 00, 0 and garden gauge railways.
