Supplied new in august 1951 to the Co-Operative Wholesale Society’s factory in Irlam, Manchester. On the closure of the rail system there in 1967 it was sold to the Dunlop Rubber company and moved to its factory in Erdington, now the Fort shopping centre. This appointment only lasted untill 1971 and it was again sold to a collector in Hinkley.
After a few years of storage the locomotive was moved in 1974 to Shackerstone for preservation.
In 2014 the engine began a slow return to service seeing works on all the running gear, boiler and steelwork carried out.
It’s sister, 2131, also entered preservation at the Cambrian Railway Society in Oswestry, and is in the process of a similar rebuild.
For 2026 2130 is having it’s 10 year boiler maintenance and we hope to have it back in steam soon.
